Our solar system’s largest planet finally gets a visitor

After traveling 1.8 billion miles over 5 years NASA’s Juno spacecraft has successfully entered Jupiter’s orbit. The goal of $1.1 billion mission to Jupiter is to better understand Jupiter’s formation and evolution and also to discover if the gigantic planet has a solid core. The spacecraft's onboard instruments will be measuring the amount of water in Jupiter's atmosphere, as well as the planet's gravity and magnetic field.
