Filmed on Friday September 5, 2014 the first installment of this year’s Duquesne Philosophy Speaker Series. The first speaker was John Sallis, Frederick J. Adelmann, S.J., Professor of Philosophy at Boston College. His talk, titled “Return to Nature," traced the imperative of a return to nature from late antiquity to Hegel, Schelling, and Nietzsche. It also takes up the question as to how the concept of nature is to be determined in post-Nietzschean thought. The venue, the Simon Silverman Phenomenology Center (SSPC) at Duquesne University. While a professor at Duquesne, in the late 1970’s, John Sallis was one of the founders of the Center, which is co-sponsoring this talk.
