A few decades ago, some universities were imposing quotas on how many Jews they would accept. Today, on campuses large and small, Jewish Studies programs are standard fare, bringing Jewish insight and learning into the classroom and the broader community.
On this episode of the public affairs television program "Sanctuary," three Chicago-area professors discuss how they introduce Judaism and Jewish thought to a highly diverse student body, and how their specialized field has become part of the educational mainstream. Guests include: Prof. Simeon Chavel, University of Chicago; Prof. Devorah Schoenfeld, Loyola University--Chicago; and Prof. Barry Wimpfheimer, Northwestern University. Hosted by Jerry Kaye.
