The Khan Academy has 68,000,000 views from 2,400 videos on YouTube! It is revolutionizing the the world of education! Why is this company totally unknown in the Corporate Training and Development World? Heey, my name's John and thanks for tuning in to eLearningTV from Hollywood, California and brought to you by Cogentys, Learning Management Systems. Today's episode is about the Khan Academy. With 68,000,000 YouTube views and funding from the Gates Foundation, the Khan Academy is revolutionizing k-12 education. Here's how it works. (Sal Kahn has personally created a library of 2,400 videos for k-12 students on topics including math, biology, chemistry and physics in this simple screencast format). Every time you work on a problem or watch a video, the Khan Academy remembers what you've learned and where you're spending your time. They keep all of this data to expose powerful statistics to each user and their coaches. The big question is what effect the Kahn academy will have on the world of corporate training and development. One of the most appealing features of the Khan Academy courses is the simple screencast format. We found a free download for the iPad called screenchomp that can replicate this format. So we thought it would be fun to have Loren from our customer service department create a course for us. Hi Loren, thanks for your help. What did you come up with? I work with many of our new clients so I created a course on how to select an lms. Loren, great job. We should move you into our sales department! We would love to know what impact you think the Khan Academy will have on the corporate training world so don't be shy and leave a comment below. We'll be broadcasting from the enterprise learning conference and expo in Anaheim, California September 28 and 29 so we hope to see you there. Also, let us know if you would like to participate in our Rapid eLearning authoring tool shootout Articulate vs Captivate which will be shot in October at our studio in Hollywood, CA. That's all I got for today, thanks for watching eLearningTV.
