Professorial Inaugural Lecture: Professor Pamela Cox - Translating History for Television
The University of Essex presents a series of special events throughout the year celebrating excellence in research undertaken by our recently appointed Professors.
Television history works hard to win mass audiences by combining pacey journeys through rich visual locations with the discovery of new artefacts and the telling of emotive stories. In this lecture, Professor Pamela Cox, Department of Sociology, draws on her two recent BBC series to explore what is gained as well as lost in translating historical research for TV.
