Tarek Hassan is an Associate Professor of Finance and Economics at the University of Chicago. His lecture on the power of protestors under weak institutions, have a role in restricting the ability of connected firms to capture excess rents during Egypt's Arab Spring took place at EBRD headquarters on 2nd of June 2016.
The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region is the topic of a two-day research symposium being held by the EBRD, the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and the Economics of Transition journal on 2-3 June. It will take a stand-back look at some of the more intractable challenges facing the region.
